The Local Coffee Scene: AhhToots

This weeks instalment of our Local Coffee Scene blog features our visit to AhhToots at the foot of the Christmas Steps in Bristol city centre.

We rocked up to AhhToots in need of a strong coffee after another morning of Christmas shopping. We were welcomed in by the polite barista and directed towards a quirky room at the rear to sit down. This place is one of the most unique cafes we’ve visited in Bristol. Vintage books, crockery and photos adorn the shelves and walls, and the building itself is full of old charm and character. We can’t think of anywhere else quite like it which is a great quality in a city blessed with so many top notch independent eateries.

AhhToots first opened in St Nicholas market in 2014 and made a name for itself with its incredible selection of sweet treats. While the location has changed (they made the move to their current location in 2020), the legendary cakes and pastries remain. We thought we’d try out a chocolate and salted caramel brownie - we did not regret this decision. It was soft, full of flavour and disappeared from our plate in record time. We also opted for a flat white which was nice and warming (extra points for the cool mug).

We’d highly recommend a visit to AhhToots if you’re out and about in Bristol. It’s got an awesome vintage vibe and their incredible cakes will not disappoint! They also offer lunches and afternoon tea that we’re 100% going to go back and try.
