Beans or ground coffee?

Updated: Oct 18, 2021

You’ve probably noticed that we only sell coffee beans at The Local Coffee Club. Why? Simply: they retain their flavour for longer than ground coffee.

Once coffee has been ground, aficionados claim it can lose most of its natural flavour in between 20-30 *minutes*! So if you want the perfect brew, it’s important to grind your beans right before you start making it. Additionally, buying coffee beans gives you the flexibility to use whatever brewing method you prefer. Want to make pour over coffee? Use a French Press? As long as you pair your grind size accordingly, you can!

While there’s an obvious convenience factor to buying pre-ground coffee, in our experience it just doesn’t taste the same. The more astute readers have probably figured something out by now: “I’m going to need to find a way to grind my beans, aren’t I?” Yes, yes you are. Luckily, there are a great selection of grinders on the market (many of which won’t cost you a fortune!) Keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming blog post where we’ll discuss this in more detail.
